The Punjab hospitality industry was in need of a hotel group catering to mid-price segment travelers. In the early eighties, Mr. Jaswant Singh Sachdeva, Chairman of Maya Hotels India, envisioned a group that would exceed conventional offerings. This group would prioritize traveler satisfaction while maintaining a strong focus on the bottom line. With the technical support of his two young sons, he established G.J. Hotels Pvt. Ltd. in 1983-84 and acquired Hotel Maya Palace in Chandigarh. Later, in the year 2000, Maya Inns Pvt. Ltd. brought forth another addition, The Maya Hotel in Jalandhar.
Beyond hospitality, the group also has interests in coconut farming and trading in a remote area called Sompeta in Andhra Pradesh, a southern Indian state.
Mr. Surinder Jeet Singh, Managing Director and a commerce graduate, possesses a keen interest in the IT segment. In 1993, he founded Maya Software Technologies (MST), offering budget hotel automation solutions tailored to their needs and resources. Mr. Singh takes care of financial, business, and IT matters for the group.
